Mrs. Feduccia, the STEM teacher at CIS, enriched the lessons on the life cycle and adaptation of plants by letting the students plant seedlings in the garden outside between the cafeteria and basketball courts. The plants bloomed and now the mustard greens, kale, and lettuce are growing nicely. Mrs. Feduccia has even harvested and cooked some of the greens.
Even though students might not enjoy eating green leafy veggies, they certainly enjoyed learning outside with the hands-on activity. The science concepts being taught in the classroom came to life right in front of their eyes.
