Our teachers spent the last two days participating in a training through Capturing Kids’ Hearts. This training focused on igniting academic excellence through heart-centered teaching and creating high performing teams.

CIS Summer Library Hours
Summer Reading Incentive
Today the CIS Library celebrated the students who completed the Million Word Challenge, 40 Book Challenge, and students who won Battle of the Books. They were celebrated with a Royal Readers Breakfast that included a waffle and yogurt bar. Four students completed all three challenges and were awarded a Kindle Fire from Horace Mann. We are so thankful to Winn-Dixie in Central for donating the items for our breakfast and Horace Mann for sponsoring our top readers. Way to go students!!

Summer is right around the corner. The following link includes the summer reading assignment, a summary of each book so that your child can choose their perfect books, and a link to pre order summer reading books. All of next year’s Battle of the Books selections are part of that list. For delivery to your student's classroom, order by May 5th and select "Free Book Fair Shipping" at checkout. 20% of all purchases through this page will be donated to the CIS library!

Congratulations the students who completed Library Challenges in March!!
Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader
On March 16th-19th, our Beta students took a trip to Washington, DC. They were able to make connections to our social studies standards and see the actual documents we analyze in class. They explored monuments, museums, theatres, and plantations during their trip. There was even word of them visiting the Spy Museum, but one of the rules is deny everything so we don't know for sure 🤫😉 Thank you to WorldStrides and our Beta Sponsors for providing this educational trip for our 5th graders!
Our 5th graders looked towards the sky on Tuesday! They were challenged to find the 5 planets that were aligned. Students used the phenomenon and previous observations of the night sky to provide empirical evidence that the planets orbit the sun just like Galileo did with his telescope.
